Question:

Titanium nails

I have had my nail for about 6 months and i noticed it is starting to oxidize. Is this is serious health hazard? If so, is there a way to clean the nail with sand paper or something or is it garbage? I know this question has been asked in the past but i have been told by a few that it is not healthy to dab of a nail that is oxidized.

If your really worried look up titanium dioxide and see what it says about it I know they use it to give color to all kinds of shit including white glass… Oxidation is just oxygen stealing all the electrons from the Ti so it shouldn’t turn the Ti into some crazy metal that produces fumes n shit just my thoughts

I’ve heard that titanium oxide dust is extremely harmful to your lungs which is why seasoning you ti correctly is key it will insure that it keeps it shit together for awhile.. the ccc water technique that every one has grown to love is by far the worst thing for you nail.. heating it dropping it in cold water then heating it again.. this dosent achieve a seasoned nail it achieves an oxidized nail that appears season since the polish is gone.. taskrok has put out allot of info as to properly seasoning ti but ti heads should also be replaced every year or so the stuff your dabbing is most likely double the cost of the new head.. im bout ready for a new head myself

Oh wow….. 99% of us use water filtration on are rigs. So IF their is any dust in your vapors it will most Likely all be removed by the water… If your that worried, buy a damn glass nail and enjoy replacing it rather often. I do Totally agree the CCC method is stupid unless u need to clean your nail off

as happy as i would be in that were true but ti oxide dust is so small it that tube diffusion isnt even close to the micron size of the particles. if you thnk that your tube diffuses your oil to lets say 50 micron which is very very small i dont think frit discs even can do that you still wouldnt be able to filter the ti oxide dust cuz its so much smaller than than.. your stem makes bubbles.. which are filled with vapor which is possibly full of ti oxide dust.. so the dust travels with the smoke.. is this a fact absolutely not does it make sense surely.. why would you need to clean your nail off? what are you smoking? it should leave absoultely nothing on your nail.. any claim on the nail can be whipped right off if you heat the nail slightly ti and water should never come in contact and if it does make absolutely sure its 100% dry before reheating cuz this is the best way to ruin your nail head.. followed by heating that shit up till it fully glows red. but unfortanly water filtration is not enough.. however a carbon filter adapter is but at that point just get a new head!

Stop heating your nail red hot; that simple.
It’s when it’s hot enough to glow that the Ti starts joining with oxygen, creating the oxide much faster.

Besides that stuff you are burning off when you torch it red hot is actually what makes up the seasoning layer. A well seasoned Ti nail will have a black, somewhat shiny surface, just like a cast iron pan that’s been seasoned.

just get a little dremel grinder and clean the head with that , and then season it again…You should be good to go after that!
