Question:

Turkey Baster tube vs Glass tube

What are the difference between the two? Is one more effective than the other? I plan on doing a run tomorrow and have the option of either. The run will be just a Oz and ill be using newport if that matters at all.

Well heres an idea.. if you have access to both + 1 ounce of weed… Run a 1/2 oz in 1 and a 1/2 oz in the other.. and then you decide what one is better..

Cause personally i wouldn’t use either of those :D

turrkey basrters are for first timers w/ access to the proper tools-also really only good for smaller runs-say like 7-10 g’s.

From personal experience the turkey basters will work better. The more pressure in the tube the better the yield you will get and you can safely stuff a stainless steel tube without worrying about a blow out on the actual glass. Turkey basters normally fit about a ounce inside, which in my opinion is perfect for smaller runs of 3-6 grams depending on yield and quality of the material used.

Also I wanted to add doing multiple runs using glass can easily break the glass becuase cold and glass do not mix well. Multiple runs is another reason to go SSTB

I have seen problems getting a proper seal between steel turkey basters and butane cans. Had a friend try every fitting, multiple ones stacked and nothing fit properly. I would say a good 1/8th of the can was wasted and turned me off using “turkey basters”. If you know a local glass blower or have a local shop that uses one get them to make you one that is the size you want with a proper tip that requires no extra fittings. I have 3 1/2 ounce tubes at my disposal, all are glass and made with 5mm thick Boro, that tips are all perfect requiring no extra fitting. I pack them as tight as you should pack an extractor, freeze them, and have only ever had 1 problem. Cleaning out the glass tube without a proper tool can be a issue. trying to push material out through the tip with a dabber I cracked a tip making a tube unusable, that was user error, i have learned and haven’t had a breakage since.

Ive used both, now onto the X-Tractor I. Such a nice product however onto turkey basters and glass, Ive broken a glass extractor on the top where the butane is inserted but before the break i was getting 20% yields. I have a stainless steel turkey baster which fits a 1/2 and it works well especially in terms of keeping the pressure as long as packed tightly, I got it at bed bath and beyond. There was a ridge before the end of the turkey blaster that wasn’t allowing for a flush contact between screen and baster with the clamp, once i cut it down about a third of an inch it work great. Still getting average yields for each extractors.

thanks for the response, I think im going to use the turkey baster tube so I can do 2 different runs on the same O opposed to the O being ran all at once.
